Main Part
With 5mm circular needle and 1st C cast on 120(130:144:150) sts. Work in rounds. FIRST ROUND. (K.1.t.b.1.,p.1.) to end Rep. last round 10(12:14:14) times. INCREASE ROUND. For first three sizes *Rib 9(8:7) inc. in next st. rep. from * to last 0(4:0) sts. rib to end. (132:144:162) sts. Extra Large size k.l. inc. in 2nd st.k.1, *inc. in every 9th at* rep. to last 3 sts. k.l.inc.1, k.l. 168 sts. Change to 61/2mm circular needle k. one round. Mark beg. of rounds and work chart A Continue with M.C. until work measures 40(43:46:48)cms from beg.
ARMHOLE DIVIDING ROUND. Cast off 4(5:5:5), k.57(62:71:74) sts. cast off 9(10:10:10:10) k.57(62:71:74), cast off remaining 5(5:5:5) sts. Leave both sets of sts.
Sleeves
With set of four 5mm needles and 1st C. cast on 32(36:36:36). Divide sts. onto 3 needles and with fourth needle rib 11(13:15:15) rounds as main part. INCREASE ROUND. *inc. in next st. rib 2; rep. from* to end, rib 2(0:0:0). 42(48:48:48) sts. Change to set of four 61/2mm needles and k. one round. Mark beg. of rounds with a coloured thread and work from chart A as given for main part. Continue with M.C. and k. 7 rounds. INCREASE ROUND. Inc. in 1st. st., k. to last st., inc. in last st. Rep. last 8 rounds until there are 50(56:56:56) sts. Continue straight until work measures 45(48:52:53) cms.
ARMHOLE DIVIDING ROUND. Cast off 4(5:5:5), k. 42(46:46:46) sts. cast off remaining 4(5:5:5) sts. Leave sts.
Yoke
S1. sts. of one sleeve, one side of main part, 2nd sleeve and remaining main part onto 61/2mm circular needle. Work chart B.
Change to set of four 5mm needles and with 1st C. rib 18 rounds as at the beginning.
Cast off loosely.
Cardigan
Sleeves as sweater sleeves.
Main Part
With 5mm circular needles and 1st C cast on 120 (130:144:150) sts. Work forwards and back:—
FIRST ROUND: (K.1.t.b.l. ,p.1) to end. Rep. last round 10(12:14:14) times. INCREASE ROW. For first three sizes *Rib 9(8:7) inc. in next st. rep. from* to last 0(4:0) sts. rib to end. K.56(62:70:72) sts. for back, cast off 9(10:10:10), K. 29(31:36:38) sts. for left front. Leave sts.
Yoke
With right side facing sl.sts. of right front, one sleeve, back, second sleeve and left front onto 61/2 mm circular needle.
Work chart B (reading from the right). Change to set of four 5mm needle with 1st C. rib 8 rows as at beg. Cast off ribwise.
Edging
Beg. at lower edge of right front. With first C. work 1 ch 58(64:75:75) d.c. up right front edge.
NEXT ROW (making button holes) 1 ch. miss first d.c. ,1 d.c. in next d.c.* 1 ch. miss 1 d.c., 1 d.c. in 8(9:11:11) d.c.; rep. from* 5 times, 1 ch, miss 1 d.c., 1 d.c. in last d.c., 1 d.c. in 1 ch. Fasten off. Work left front edge to match, omitting button holes. Join 2nd C to lower edge of right front and work 1 ch. miss one d.c., ldc. in each d.c. and ch. to end, 3 d.c. in corner 1 d.c. in every alternate st. around neck, 3 d.c. in corner, 1 d.c. in each d.c. down left front edge. Fasten off.
