Mini Dress Knitting Pattern

MATERIALS: Use any of the following Sears yarns: Afghan and Sweater Yarn, #5699-9 (11) 2-oz. skeins Renee Yarn, #5682-5 (6) 4-oz. skeins Sayelle Yarn, #5613-5 (6) 4-oz. skeins Knitting Worsted, #5606-5 (6) 4-oz. skeins 1 pair Sears needles, Size 21 1 Sears crochet hook, Size G Stitch holders
SIZES: 8-10 (12-14). When blocked: bust size 36 (40) inches; width of Back at underarm, 18 (20) inches; lower edge, 36 (40) inches.
GAUGE: 9 sts = 4 inches; 6 rows = 2 inches.
NOTE: Entire dress is knitted with 3 strands of yarn worked together. Instructions are for 26-inch length from lower edge to underarm; make any desired adjustment in length before beginning armholes.

BACK

With 3 strands of yarn, cast on 41 (45) sts.

Border —Rows 1 and 3—right side: P. Rows 2 and 4: K.

Next Row—right side: Start working in st. st (K 1 row, P 1 row) until 26 inches or desired length, ending with P row. Mark for underarm.

Armholes: Bind off 2 (3) sts at beg of next 2 rows; 37 (39) sts.

Dec. Row: Kl, SKP, K to within 3 sts of end, K2 tog, K 1. Rpt this dec row every second row 3 times; 29 (31) sts.

Work even for 11 (13) more rows until about 61/2 (71%) inches above under­arm marker, ending on wrong side with P row.

Shoulders: Bind off 3 (4) sts at beg of next 2 rows, then 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows; 15 sts. K1 row.

Turtle Neck Ribbing—Row 1: K1 , *P1, K1; rpt from * to end.

Row 2: P1, *K1, P1; rpt from * to end. Rpt these 2 rows 5 more times. Bind off loosely in ribbing.

FRONT

Work same as for Back until 17 (19) rows above underarm marker, ending on right side with K row.

Divide for Neck: P9 (10) and sl to holder for Right side, P11 and sl to holder for neck, P9 (10) rem sts for Left side.

Left Side: K to within 3 sts of end, K2 tog, K1; 8 (9) sts. P 1 row. Bind off 3 (4) sts, K to within 3 sts of end, K2 tog, Kl. P 1 row. Bind off rem 4 sts.

Right Side: From wrong side, sl 9 (10) sts for Right Side from holder to needle. Join yarn at neck edge, Kl, SKP, K to end; 8 (9) sts. P 1 row.

On next row, Kl, SKP, K to end; 7 (8) sts. Bind off 3 (4) sts at beg of next row. K 1 row. Bind off rem 4 sts.

Turtle Neck Ribbing: From wrong side, sl 11 sts for neck of Front to needle. From right side, beg at Left shoulder, pick up and K5 sts evenly spaced along Left neck edge, K11 across Front, pick up and K5 sts along Right neck edge to shoulder; 21 sts.

Row 1: Kl, *P1, KI; rpt from * to end. Complete Turtle Neck Ribbing to correspond to Back.

FINISHING

Sew shoulder and side seams, sewing ribbing for Turtle Neck so that seams are concealed when collar is turned down.’

From right side, beg at underarm, work 1 row sc around each armhole, holding in to fit; join with sl st in first st. Fasten off. Steam lightly.
