Marcia Jumper Pattern

MATERIAL: 8 ozs. 4-ply Wool, 1 Pr. and one short (pointed at both ends) No. 9 Knitting Pins.

MEASUREMENTS : Length. 19 ins. Sleeve. Sins. Bust. 32.34 ins.

TENSION: 7 sts to 1 in 8 rows to 1 in.

ABBREVIATIONS: Check here

BACK: Cast on 114 sts. War in rib as follows for 4 in.

1tst ROW: K.2. p.2, to last 2 sts k.2.

2nd ROW: P2. k.2. to last 2 sts. p.2. Now wort in pattern thus:

1st ROW: • Put first 2 sts. on spare pin and leave at front of work. purl next 2 sts., then k.2 sts. from spare pin. repeat from • to last 2 sts. k.2.

2nd ROW: P.2. • p.2. k.2. to end of row.

3rd ROW: P2. k.2 to last 2 sts. k.2.

4th ROW: As 2nd row.

5th ROW: • Put the first 2 sts. on the spare pin, end leaves at back of work. knit next 2 sts.. then purl 2 its from spare pin. repeat from • to last 2 sts. k.2.

6th ROW: P2, k.2. to last 2 sts. p2.

7th ROW: K.2, p.2. to the last 2 sts. k.2.

8th ROW: As 6th row.

9th ROW: • Put the first 2 sts. on the spare pin and leave at front of work, purl next 2 sts. then k.2 sts. from the spare pin. repeat from • to last 2 sts.. p.2.

10th ROW: K.2. • p.2. k.2. to end of row.

Work the next 14 rows in rib as now set (at the same time increasing each end of every 4th row) then repeat the twisted stripe.

Work in the pattern of 14 rows rib and twisted stripe (still increasing every 4th row until there are 122 sts. on the pin).

When wort measures 12 in.. finishing on 8th row of rib after • twisted stripe, cast off 8 sts. at beginning of next 2 rows.

Tate 2 tog. at both ends of every row until 94 sts. remain. Continue straight in pattern until armhole measures 6-1/2 in.

SHAPE SHOULDERS: Cast off 6 sts. at the beginning of the next 8 rows. Cast off remaining sts. in rib loosely.

FRONT: Cast on 114 sts. Work in rib as follows for 4 in.

1st ROW: K.2. p.2. to lest 2 sts, k.2.

2nd ROW: P2, k.2. to last 2 sts. p2. Now work in pattern thus:

1st ROW: • Put the first 2 sts. on the spare pin and leave at front of work, purl next 2 sts, then k.2 sts. from the spare pin, repeat from • to last 2 sts. k.2.

2nd ROW: P.2, • p.2. k.2 to end of row.

Continue straight in pattern until armhole measures 6-1/2 in.

SLEEVES: Cast on 86 sts., and work in pattern as for back. Increasing each end of every 4th row until there are 98 sts. on pin. Continue straight in pattern until sleeve measures 5 in. finishing on 8th row of rib after a twisted stripe.

Cast of 8 sts. at beginning of next 2 rows. then take 2 tog. at the beginning of every row until 26 sts. remain. Cast off.

SHOULDER PADS: Cast on 40 sts. and work in st.-st. until work is a square. Cast off. Fold corner ways, and pad with wool and join edges together.

TO MAKE UP: Join right shoulder, side and sleeve seams. Stitch left shoulder for about 1-1/2 in. Sew in sleeves. Work 1 row of d.c. round opening, making buttonhole loops on the front shoulder. Sew in shoulder pads.
