GAUGE: 5 sts-4″; 7 rows-4″.

NOTE: 5 strands of yarn is used throughout (I each A, B, C, D and E). Do not wind strands into one large ball. Make a test swatch. If work is too loose, work tighter. If work is too tight, work looser. Always join yarn at edge of work. Place all strands of yarn in a covered box, making five holes in the center of the cover and having strands come through these holes.

BACK: With 5 strands of yarn (1′ each A, B, C, D and E), cast on 20 (22-24) sts. Work in reverse stockinette st (p I row, k I row) for 8 rows (border). Then work in stockinette st until 28″ from beg or desired length to underarm.

SHAPE RAGLAN ARMHOLES: Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Work even for 2 rows. Dec I st each end every other row 5 (6-7) times. Bind off.

LEFT FRONT: Starting at underarm edge, with 5 strands of yarn (I each A, B, C, D and E), cast on 10 (12-14) sts. Work same as back to underarm.

SHAPE RAGLAN ARMHOLE: At arm edge bind off 2 sts. Work even for 2 rows. Dec I st at same edge every other row 5 (6-7) times. At neck edge bind off remaining sts.

Keeping the 7 sts at front edge in reverse stockinette st and remaining sts in stockinette st work to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping. At neck edge bind off 9 (10- 11) sts loosely in pattern.

SLEEVES: With 5 strands of yarn (I each A, B, C, D and E), cast on 14 (16-18) sts. Work in reverse stockinette st for 8 rows (border). Then work in stockinette st for 2 rows. Inc I st each end of next row; then every 4″ once more [18 (20-22) sts]. Work even until 18″ from beg or desired length to underarm. SHAPE ARMHOLES: Same as for back.

COLLAR: Note: Use purl side for right side. With 5 strands of yarn (I each A, B, C, D and E), cast on 30 (32-34) sts. Work in stockinette st for 4 rows. Bind off loosely.

FINISHING: Do not block. Cut lining, using knitted pieces as a guide and adding for seams and back pleat. With wrong side facing and right sides together, using a split strand of B, sew the bumps at ends of rows of sides together, matching rows. With right side facing, seam again by sewing a st on one side of seam, then on the other side alternately, drawing sts together evenly. With right side facing and with I strand B, work I row sc around neck edge holding in to desired size. With right side facing, and with 5 strands of yarn (I each A, B, C, D and E), work I row sc around lower, sleeve and front edges. With 5 strands of yarn, work in same manner around collar and belt. Interface first 7 sts of each front edge with pellon and catch st in place. Sew in lining. Using purl side for right side interface collar and belt with pellon and line. Sew collar to neck edge. Sew hooks and eyes to front edges for closing.
