INSTRUCTIONS

Cast on 76 sts. Slide the stitch marker onto the needle before the first stitch. Work in the round in 2 x 2 ribbing for 58 rnds, about 9"/23 cm (7 3/4"/20 cm).
On the next rnd, begin decreasing: *k2tog, p2tog; repeat from * around—38 sts remaining.
Work 3 rnds in 2 x 2 ribbing.
In the next rnd, finish decreasing by knitting 2 sts together all the way around.
Knit 1 rnd.
Cut the yarn, leaving a tail of about 11 3/4"/30 cm, and thread the end through the remaining stitches. Draw tight to close the top of the hat, then weave in the end.
