In seed stitch with size 13 (9.0 mm) needles, 4" x 4" / 10 x 10 cm = 24 sts x 15 rows
INSTRUCTIONS
Cast on 55 sts. Work in seed stitch for 1 1/2" / 4 cm.
Start the diamond pattern, keeping a border of seed stitch on each side (see the chart on page 33).
Row 1: K1, p1, k1, *k6, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, k5; repeat from * across to last 4 sts, k1, p1, k1, p1.
Row 2 and every even-numbered row: P1, k1, p1, purl to last 3 sts, k1, p1, k1.
Row 3: K1, p1, k1, *k5, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, k2tog, k4; repeat from * across to last 4 sts, k1, p1, k1, p1.
Row 5: K1, p1, k1, *k4, k2tog, yo, k5, yo, k2tog, k3; repeat from * across to last 4 sts, k1, p1, k1, p1.
Row 7: K1, p1, k1, *k3, k2tog, yo, k7, yo, k2tog, k2; repeat from * across to last 4 sts, k1, p1, k1, p1.

Continue in seed stitch until the piece measures 49 1/4" / 125 cm long in all, then repeat the diamond pattern for the opposite border.
Finish with 1 1/2" / 4 cm of seed stitch, then bind off loosely.
Weave in the ends.
