MATERIALS
For the cowl
* Angora-wool blend fine weight yarn: 4 (2) skeins blue [3.5 oz./100 g (1.7 oz./50 g); shown in Fonty Coeur d’Angora, #227]
* Size 11 (8.0 mm) needles
* Size 8 (5.0 mm) needles
* Yarn needle
For the gloves
* Angora-wool blend fine weight yarn: 1 (1) skein blue [.9 oz./25 g (.3 oz./10 g); shown in Fonty Coeur d’Angora, #227]
STITCHES USED
* Garter stitch (with two strands of yarn)
* 1 x 1 ribbing (for the gloves)
GAUGES
For the cowl:
* In garter stitch with size 11 (8.0 mm) needles and two strands of yarn, 4" x 4"/10 x 10 cm = 13 sts x 22 rows
For the gloves:
* In 1 x 1 ribbing with size 8 (5.0 mm) needles, 4" x 4"/10 x 10 cm = 24 sts x 22 rows
COWL
With two strands of yarn, cast on 3 sts.
Row 1: K3.
Row 2: K2, M1, k1.
Row 3: K3, M1, k1.
Row 4: K4, M1, k1.
Continue increasing in this pattern until you have 60 (45) sts. Stop increasing and knit every row even for another 6 1/4"/16 cm (2"/5 cm).
Loosely bind off.
Use the yarn needle to sew the straight sides together for the back neck seam. Weave in the ends.
FINGERLESS GLOVES
Cast on 32 (22) sts. Work in 1 x 1 ribbing until the piece measures 11 3/4"/30 cm (6"/15 cm) long. Bind off and sew the side seam, leaving an opening 1 1/2"/4 cm (1"/3 cm) long for the thumb, 1"/3 cm (3/4"/2 cm) from the top edge. Weave in the ends.
