I’m a sucker for heirloom blankets. Inspired by a simple ruffle pottern, designed this blanket to look classic. but with a modern twist. The result reminds me of the waves of an ocean, making
this the perfect piece for cuddling as you lull your little one to sleep.

Yarn
10 skeins of Worsted Cotton from Blue Sky Alpacas (100% organic cotton; 3.5 oz; 150 yards) in color 614 Drifts
Hooks and Notions
Size 19 (5.5 mm) crochet hook
Crocheter’s toolbox supplies (see page 8)
BLANKET Ch 102.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch horn hook and each ch (ch 3 counts as 1 dc). 100 dc
Rows 2-6: Ch 3, turn, dc in each st across.
Row 7: 01 3, turn, dc 3 times in each st across until 1 St rem, dc in final st. 296 sts
Row 8: Ch 3, turn, dc in each st across.
Row 9:Ch 3, turn, dc3tog in each st across until 1 st rem dc in final st. 100 sts
Rows 10–18: Ch 3, turn, dc in each st across.
Work rows 7- 18 another 3 times. Rep rows 7-15 once.
Do not fasten of
BORDER
To work border, cont from your last st, working your way around the blanket.
Rnd 1: Ch 1.sc twice in each st along side, sc in each st along next edge: rep from • once, sl st in ch at start of rnd. 448 sts
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc twice in each st, sl st in top of ch-3 at start of md. 896 sts
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in each st around, sl st in top of ch-3 at start of rnd.
896 sts
Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends. Block (see page /7) and gently position the ruffles as you lay blanket flat to dry.
With this blanket, it is possible to stretch the dc rows open so it will have a lacy look, but I find that this distorts the overall shape.
